The Lions Rear

Camping near Sweet Creek Falls

On -- I went camping with Alice and her two dogs. We picked out a few spots but really lucked out finding a freshly cut alley for power-line access off of Siuslaw Forest NF-4890 around 43.92949581371917,-123.89635361973538 It was quiet, there was only one car who came through while we were there, and the only man-made noises were the occasional plane. We only noticed as we were packing out that there were fresh bear claws on one of the power lines close to our tent 😱 luckily we weren't visited by much more than birds and chipmunks.

There was smoke in Eugene, OR on Friday-Sunday which kind of made me anxious for the plans after my 2021-08-12-ish trip to lake crescent and waking up in smoke, but it was a lot nicer closer to the coast. Still somewhat noticeable but definitely not too bad.

Staying overnight with two big dogs and two folks in a 2 person tent was a bit stressful but not too bad -- a good experiment. We were only there overnight and in to the afternoon the next day so packing in and out was quick and easy, we had to pick up some trash that someone else had left and some animals had torn up, but that's how these things go. We got to do some nice walks on freshly graveled forest roads and some wilder spots and otherwise just sat and talked and played card games, played with the dogs, and then Monday we hiked on the Sweet Creek Falls trail before driving back in to town. Jetboil tea, Jetboil box mac dinner, Jetboil coffee, haha.

Really like spending time with her like this, little miniature adventures.
