A Job Worth Keeping

I can't be unemployed forever, a Goal to find a job that I will be able to spend another five years or more with. Projects]

  • Built-in empathy towards users and co-workers

  • Opportunities to both mentor and be mentored; in particular, access to non-technical mentorship is important to me

  • Availability of remote work and somewhat flexible hours

  • A mission and values that align well with my own, and aren't used as a weapon to enable or excuse bad behavior

  • Healthy funding/income dynamics, preferably not VC- or PE-backed

  • Participation in the digital commons, working on open-source and being transparent in public about the work that we're doing

  • Encourages nuanced honest discussion on technical and product decisions, people aren't afraid to spend some time in code-review or design-review coming to a solid solution rather than putting a TODO comment in code and committing it

  • Healthy operational and on-call work culture

  • Pragmatic about tools and technologies

  • I'd prefer to not write Golang again any time soon :)
