Homebuilding

Contents

While I have dreamed to build a housing cooperative, we're not ready to persue Projects like that. Maybe in a decade!

I think I want to move to Port Angeles, WA or somewhere with a similar cost of living and climate and eventually build a home or a cabin some place around there. I have a lot of Anxiety around staying in the an earthquake region especially on the edges of water, but realistically everywhere in the US sucks and is going struggle to deal with Infrastructure and Climate Collapse inevitably. But i have money, and i can spend it on security right now. Remote tech work makes it feasible for me to be able to work thirty hours a week by 35 years old and in the meantime I could end up with a house paid off and just enough income to sustain myself and my home and still build savings, work more if I want to travel... I can just barely do this by myself, but inevitably I will fall in love again and these goals are things I'll want to share or at least come to common consensus with. Two people working together part time and camping and pulling food from our garden is quite a nice dream to share.

I need to have a Plan B too i guess, a set of criteria to leave the US for now or forever, I don't trust this place, and I hardly will trust Port Angeles and the quiet white supremacy of the Pacific Northwest. I need to find community wherever I go, I cannot continue to feel like an outcast.

Requirements:

  • Progressive Community

  • Climate Stability. onshore flows are nice

  • Permaculture Garden

Desires:

  • Local Tech Community (port angeles etc don't have this, far enough from seattle)

  • Lower Density

NEXT redraft this

Stage one: minimise and move

NEXT build an Inventory and use it to give away a lot of my shit

WAITING rent an apartment for six or twelve months in Port Angeles

  • State "WAITING" from "NEXT"

WAITING put a bunch in a storage unit in Seattle, take what I need to Port Angeles, WA

  • State "WAITING" from "NEXT"

How do I live happily?

I have so much work to do, i am so afraid of becoming a hermit and a bastard, but I can manage this in My Living Systems and am.

These are the Hypergoals for life:

  • House Rules and healthy Practices, Tools for Self Discipline to fight slipping habits which make me healthier, make my systems healthier, or move me towards a Goal.

  • A life worth living, and some ways to live a fulfilling life with my mental health struggles

    • Open my home to friends and family

      • "I've got a guest bedroom and I'll pick you up in Bainbridge Island at the ferry terminal" and a simple way to schedule that with me

    • Institute an aggressive policy of Mutual Aide and of pushing my extra money in to issues and people I care about.

  • A Job Worth Keeping, figure out how i can work full time without wanting to die

  • In the second or third year, I think I could build a Garden big enough to meet most of my food needs -- I would love to be able to live on my garden and some bulk rice and local produce.

  • Integrate healthy online community

    • I will miss face-to-face conversations, build in video/voice chats, more discipline to show up when events happen and participate with my voice.

Don't forget Plan B
